Surface Magazine - 2004
Whilst researching into paper fashion, I discovered designer Zoe Bradley whose work is quite simply spectacular. Zoe uses paper to make sculptural and dramatic showpieces which are often commissioned for shop windows, advertising campaigns, editorials and exhibitions. I was particularly interested in these head pieces which featured in an editorial for Surface Magazine in 2004.
My concept for Pride is to have my model wearing a massive headpiece made out of newspaper which will resemble connotations such as, 'big headedness' and over inflated ego' which are associated with the sin, pride. These beautiful headpieces have given me some ideas on how I could manipulate paper to construct a headpiece that portrays vanity and pride.
